
Vince McLaughlin has been a practicing attorney in California for 38 years. For 31 of those years, he continuously served as the full-time in-house general counsel for three family owned companies in the entertainment, energy, real estate and construction industries. Vince joined the Sacramento law firm of Gavrilov & Brooks in 2017 and provides transactional, advisory and dispute resolution services to a wide array of business concerns.
For 18 years, Vince served as the General Counsel of the Vanir Group of Companies, Inc. and its operating subsidiaries Vanir Construction Management, Inc., Vanir Development Company, Inc. and Vanir Energy, LLC. Prior to joining Vanir in 1999, Mr. McLaughlin was the General Counsel of Wickland Oil Company (1991-1999) and Video Products Distributors, Inc. (1986-1991), both headquartered in Sacramento.
Vince has extensive experience providing legal and advisory services to shareholders, directors and executive management. Areas of specialization include entity formation and compliance, complex contract drafting and negotiation, public contracting, project and asset-based financing, debt and equity financing, real estate, property management, environmental management and remediation, human resources, risk management and insurance, claims and litigation, regulatory and operational matters. Special projects have included project development and management, business acquisitions and divestments, international transactions, strategic planning and succession planning. Vince understands operations and transactions from the perspective of a senior executive.
Vince is also a licensed real estate broker and provides an attorneys’ perspective to the documentation and closing of commercial and residential real estate transactions.
Education
Vince graduated from Columbia University in 1979 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and received his J.D. in 1982 from the University of the Pacific-McGeorge School of Law.
Affiliations and Activities Include
From 2002 to 2017, Vince was the Sacramento Area Chair of the Columbia University Alumni assisting in the recruitment of undergraduate students. Vince and his wife volunteer their time with a Labrador Retriever rescue organization.
