Ognian Gavrilov is the managing partner of Gavrilov & Brooks, a full-service practice with offices in Los Angeles and Sacramento. Mr. Gavrilov has tried over sixty trials and arbitrations.
He has tried both plaintiff and defense cases in the areas of business law, corporate law, personal injury, defamation, insurance bad faith, employment law, patent law, trucking law, immigration law, family law, and medical malpractice. He routinely handles trials on short notice for other law firms and has many eight-figure verdicts and settlements. His $39 million jury verdict in Gunderson v. Edward Jones, et al. is the largest defamation verdict in the history of California. He also holds the largest invasion of privacy violation verdict where the court awarded $37 million to five women who were surreptitiously filmed without their permission. Moreover, he prevailed in a $25 million corporate takeover trial for a public traded company in the Eastern District of California. In addition, Mr. Gavrilov’s $18.5 million verdict in Guzman v. Wigle is the largest non-amputation shin/knee injury in US history.
Mr. Gavrilov is the 2024 Attorney of the Year by the Sacramento County Bar Association, the 2020 Advocate of the Year by CCTLA (Capitol City Trial Lawyers Association) and was one of five finalists for Advocate of the Year in 2015 and 2021. Mr. Gavrilov is a Northern California Super Lawyers’ top attorney from 2019 to 2025 and made the Sacramento Magazine’s Top Lawyers List from 2017 to 2025. He is the 2016 Justice Abroad recipient by the Sofia (Bulgaria) Attorney Association.
Mr. Gavrilov is the Honorary Consul for Republic of Bulgaria in California, a Board of Directors Member of Bearpaw, co-founder of the Slavic American Chamber of Commerce, a former Chairman of the Small Business Advisory Board for the City of Sacramento, and a former Advisory Board Member of Wells Fargo Bank. His biggest accomplishment, however, is winning the 2007 UOP, McGeorge Golf Championship.
